While attending the Alberta College of Art & Design in 1988, he came across the classical animation department and observed the manipulation of drawings and found objects at twenty-four frames per second. Hooked, he bought a Bolex and began photographing his own experimental films. His creativity and sensitivity is evident in an impressive cache of stylish and imaginative dance films produced for the BRAVO channel. Screaming Fish and Extreme to Me went on to win nominations, awards and critical praise. The Agent marks an important move for Robert into the digital realm. Post digital timing and effects were used convincingly and very easily to great effect. These visual adjustments added incredible depth to an already mysterious feeling pervading the story line. Robert intends on continuing his cinematography with more digital/tape foundation. Urged on by these successes, Robert is currently exhibiting his photographs and working in Vancouver |
